Letter from the Chairman

When I founded Cognex Corporation, I had a specific mission statement in mind. Made up of two goals, this mission statement still guides the company today:

  • To be the largest and most successful company in the world that provides products that incorporate Artificial Intelligence technology (AI) for understanding images, and
  • To be a company that exceeds the expectations of its customers, employees, vendors, shareholders, and neighbors.

In pursuit of this mission, Cognex has always been committed to its Ten Corporate Values:

  • Customer First
  • Excellence
  • Perseverance
  • Enthusiasm
  • Creativity
  • Pride
  • Integrity
  • Recognition
  • Sharing
  • Fun

We take these values seriously and we live by them. They are paramount in all that we do, including the process of interviewing prospective employees. As a matter of fact, before becoming a Cognex employee, each person must agree in writing to abide by these values.

With regard to corporate governance issues and to how we run our business, you can be assured that we do our best to only hire individuals who have the highest standards of integrity and who will bring those standards to bear in their work at Cognex.

Cognex has had a corporate code of ethics for years, predating the current regulatory requirements. We firmly believe that it is impossible to legislate integrity. Rather, we feel that fostering a corporate culture with consistently reinforced, well-ingrained values along with a long track record of straight-talking and straight dealings with our customers, employees, vendors, neighbors and shareholders better ensure that we maintain the highest ethical standards in all that we do.
